Sculptra

WHAT IS SCULPTRA and how does it work?

Sculptra is an injectable, cosmetic filler that can be used to help the body restore deep lines, wrinkles, and creases on the face. It uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) to promote collagen production in the targeted areas. The collagen that the body produces naturally repairs and restores the skin to produce subtle, but impactful differences.

The PLLA gel is injected into the skin where it then begins to spread out and absorb. This stimulates the body’s ability to produce extra collagen which builds support for the skin and helps to remove wrinkles and smile lines. For the best effects, patients are encouraged to have anywhere from two to four injection sessions, spaced roughly three weeks apart. Our trained practitioners will work with you to determine how many sessions are needed to achieve the desired results.

What can I expect during treatment?

In each of your treatments, one of our practitioners will map out all of the sites to be injected and clean the areas. A topical anesthetic may be applied to help with any discomfort. After this pre-work, the practitioner will inject the mapped sites to perform the Sculptra treatment.

Once the treatment is complete, the patient may have redness or swelling, but it should dissipate within the next day or two. This treatment does not include any downtime and patients can resume their daily activities immediately after injection. If the areas are feeling sore, cold packs can be applied to the sensitive areas a few minutes at a time within the first 24 hours. Makeup can be applied to the affected areas a few hours after the treatment is complete.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?

The length of time it takes for patients to notice results can vary patient to patient. Each person’s body is different and will produce the extra collagen at different rates. Some patients notice changes almost immediately, while others it can take a few treatments to reduce the smile lines, wrinkles, and creases that may be targeted.
