ABOUT CLEARSILK
ClearSilk is an advanced non-ablative, noninvasive laser technology. Non-ablative lasers do not remove the skin — the laser light creates micro-damage to the skin to encourage natural skin healing. IDEAL CANDIDATES
You have multiple factors to take into consideration when deciding which laser peel is best for you. Laser skin resurfacing is designed for patients who are unhappy with their skin’s appearance. If you see skin damaged by the sun, acne scars, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, or redness issues, this procedure may be needed to correct these cosmetic flaws. This treatment isn’t suggested if you have very dark skin tones or active acne. In addition, it’s important to understand that there is a recovery period associated with these laser peels. Some patients, based on the condition of their skin, may require as much as 2 – 3 weeks for recovery.
OUR LASER SKIN RESURFACING TECHNIQUE
Before you are scheduled for a more intense or deeper laser peel treatment, you may be asked to use a retinoid cream for 2 – 3 weeks before your laser peel. The retinoid helps prepare the skin for maximum results. Medication will be given prior to the procedure to help reduce pain for increased comfort throughout your appointment. If your complexion only needs mild improvement, local anesthesia will be used to numb treated areas where the laser will target. For the whole complexion or more intense laser procedures, a form of sedation may be necessary. During the procedure, you can relax in our treatment chair while the laser handpiece glides over the skin, directly targeting the specific sections for rejuvenation. You will feel the heat of the laser followed by cold air from the system’s built-in cooling device. The laser energy is designed to eliminate damaged and dead skin cells while also stimulating new collagen growth.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Following your ClearSilk laser treatment, a healing ointment may be applied to the skin. No downtime is associated with the treatment so you will be able to return home immediately after your treatment. The skin may look red, and there may be some irritation and swelling; however, these symptoms subside within a couple of days and the skin peeling process will occur over a 3 – 5-day timeframe. It is extremely important that you minimize UV exposure following the laser procedure and use sun protection frequently. For all laser peel treatments, the treated skin will naturally peel off. It’s essential to avoid interfering with the healing process to evade scarring and to protect the treated area from sun exposure. After the peeling process has been finished, your skin should feel softer while appearing younger, clearer, and rejuvenated.
